Success Story

Discovering What’s Possible: Abbi’s Story

After high school, Abbi spent long stretches at home without services or social connections. That began to change in early 2024 when she joined 43 North Iowa’s Supportive Community Living (SCL) program, where she’s learning independence, internet safety, and how to build healthy relationships.

She’s also part of the DayHab Joblink Activities Group (JAG), which helped her gain confidence through friendships and shared experiences. During one outing, peers encouraged her to see that her disability didn’t limit her ability to work, opening her eyes to new possibilities.

With support from 43 North Iowa’s employment team, Abbi landed a job in MercyOne’s catering department, set personal savings goals, and began managing her own finances. She also participates in community activities like kickball, softball, and the Affordables Fashion Show, where her energy and enthusiasm shine.

Abbi’s journey is a reminder that with opportunity, support, and encouragement, people can discover what’s possible.
